So Obama‘s troops were up in arms over the myopic White House press corps obsessing over the fiscal cliff — ignoring Obama‘s gun control presser and instead shooting fiscal cliff questions right out of the gate. Huffington Post.
The testy tweet quoted in the Huff Post head wasn’t “WTH.” “WTF” hammered out by NYT ex-exec editor Bill Keller‘s wife as the White House press corps ignored Obama‘s subject. The New York Times did not run Keller‘s second wife’s tweets.

“Does anyone know one civilian — other than your crazy uncle who listens to Rush Limbaugh three hours a day — who’s losing sleep over the fiscal cliff?” Will Bunch Philadelphia Daily News.
As for Limbaugh, he warned ABC’s Jake Tapper, who got in the last question, that Obama would retaliate: “I guarantee you, Jacob Tapper is in some crosshairs now for this insolence and this disrespect.” “Jake Tapper Pops Obama’s Bubble.”
Tapper: “It seems to a lot of observers that you made the political calculation in 2008, your first term and in 2012 not to talk about gun violence. You had your position on renewing the ban on semiautomatic rifles that then-Sen. Biden put in place. But you didn’t do much about it. This is not the first incident of horrific gun violence of your four years. Where have you been?”
A testy Obama replied: “Well, here’s where I’ve been, Jake. Uh, I’ve been president of the United States dealing with the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, an auto industry on the verge of collapse, two wars. I don’t think I’ve been on vacation. And, so, you know, I think all of us have to do some reflection on how we prioritize, um, what we do here in Washington.” Politico.
Obama‘s about to go on vacation.
Tapper‘s spin to the Washington Post‘s Erik Wemple: With vivid memories of having covered Columbine, I thought it was worth pressing him on the point. It felt like a question that parents of victims of all the gun violence from Inauguration Day 2009 until the day before Sandy Hook, and all the terrified parents out there, would want to better understand.
