Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We’ll all meet in 2013 at the bottom of the cliff.

    • Marty Davis

I’ve ordered my golden parachute, Grandpa D!  I’m bummed big time that I am unable to get to Detroit for the Cole family’s annual Boxing Day gag gift exchange December 26th.

Nobody gets to take home the full-size trout resin wine bottle holder I bought in Northern Michigan especially for this gathering. k

Maybe I’ll send it to Wayne LaPierre.

BTW more photos of Nancy Reagan and Mr. T.

Put up the wine bottle holder picture, maybe we could start a bidding war on it.

    • Marty Davis

Hmm.  Let me take a photo.  I’ll post it Christmas Eve!  You are so funny!

  • John Cobb

Merry Christmas everyone!!!  “Hope” everyone has a good year.

  • Sentinel

Guess I’ll go ahead and pay the utility bill since we didn’t spin off into outer space.  Merry Christmas one and all.

Peace on earth, goodwill toward Marty…

    • Marty Davis

Thanks, Captain!   I usually take off and return after New Year’s Day.  January 4th marks six years since I started this Internet venture.

Monday update:  NYP Jeff Zucker CNN leaker:  Zucker trolling Hollywood Reporter/Variety scribes:  ““You can’t turn TV people into great reporters, but you can turn a great reporter into a decent broadcaster.”

    “Soledad O’Brien promised primetime slot.”

Monday update:   the cost of a Staples stapler online depends on where you live.

For some reason (and it might be my machine or browser) all I can see is the html for the pic.

Larry Mendte may be a wacko news anchor but his  boss Randy Michaels (Tribune TV) appears to have his head screwed on straight re:  TV news’s misuse of the King’s English.

Michaels issued an edict banning certain absurd, redundant, ridiculous, hackneyed words and phrases on his TV stations.  Mendte weaves them into a script.  Mendte was fired from Philadelphia’s KYW-TV in 2008 for breaking into co-anchor Alycia Lane’s email account.  Mendte was having an “improper relationship” with Miz Lane — also dumped by the station.  Mendte is appealing his felony conviction.  After two years on the beach, Mendte got a gig doing commentary on Tribune’s flagship WPIX-TV NYC.

Jack Klugman (Oscar Madison) exits the planet eight years after Tony Randall (Felix Unger).
Funny scene from the TV series.

The original Oscar and Felix exited more than 10 years ago.  (Walter Matthau 2000, Jack Lemmon 2001.)  I adored Walter Matthau.  A classic scene from the 1967 movie.

    • John Cobb

Marty, don’t forget the funniest line of all time….

Oscar tells Felix to stop putting notes on his pillow, saying they were out of bread..

that it took him 3 hrs to figure out that FU meant Felix Unger.

Only Neal Simon could come up with that.

Marty, I am afraid all the real talent has left us.
there will never be talent like they had in the 50s through 70s.

The “comedy” they have today is awful, I guess all the good jokes have been used up.

Think about all the talent on broadway and in Hollywood back in the 50s, do you see talent like that today, if so, tell me where.

      Merry Christmas
