Bush Daughter Whistling Dixie

Southern Living magazine is counting on Jenna Bush Hager to lure younger readers.

NYT:  Lindsay Bierman, Southern Living’s editor in chief, said that while Ms. Hager, 31, was not hired purely because of her youth, he thought she had the right kind of enthusiasm to contribute to the magazine.

“I did get the sense that her heart is still very much in the South,” Mr. Bierman said. “I felt her passion for the South was going to translate into what she would do for Southern Living.”

You mean the NBC ‘Today’ show correspondent wasn’t hired because she’s Bush‘s daughter?  Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah!

Dixie chick Jenna: “There’s a new generation of Southern women that I’d love to speak to“Entertaining and food and all the things that Southern Living does so well is something I don’t do on the ‘Today’ show.”

Matt, it’s “give me 5″, not “give me 2″.
